Germany

Germany celebrated three Judo Olympic Champions: Ole Bischof in 2008, Yvonne Bönisch in 2004 and Udo Quellmalz in 1996. Germany won 18 Olympic judo medals and the last one was bronze by Laura Vargas Koch in Rio2016. Germany had six World Champions Alexander Wieczerzak was the last judo world champion in 2017. Udo Quellmalz won two world titles and is the most successful German judoka. The Judo Grand Slam is held in Düsseldorf, since 2018 it has a Grand Slam status. Also the DJB, the Deutsche Judo Bund, organises European Cups for cadets, juniors and seniors. Dominic Ressel won this year's Grand Slam in Paris. Daniel Keller was elected as new DJB President.
