The Polypodium is the newsletter of the Council of Park Friends. It comes out twice a year and is sent to all members. How did the newsletter get its name and what does it mean?
Founding member Diane Wheelock tells us that she selected the name, that it just seemed to fit. Polypodium is a fern that grows in rocky, shady knolls in the woods. The name probably is a reference to "many feet". Indeed, Poly-podium might reflect "many people taking a hike" or "many folks taking a stand. Our newsletter is a podium from which CPF can provide members with information about the environment and outdoor interpretation.
